Finger Spaces When Writing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p>When primary students learn to write it is necessary to teach them to leave finger spaces between their words.\u00a0 If they don&#8217;t, it can be very hard to read their writing.\u00a0 A great way to do this in Kindergarten or Grade 1 is to use something other than a finger to leave a space.\u00a0 I personally like these worm spacers.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.theteachingrabbit.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/theteachingrabbit-blog-finger-spaces-when-writing-1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.theteachingrabbit.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/worm.png?resize=654%2C540\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"540\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a>\n<p>I have also seen astronaut spacers (with a play on &#8220;space&#8221;).\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have something pre-made like this, you can always use something in your classroom like a paper clip, an eraser, a crayon or colored pencil, or any other small object.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.theteachingrabbit.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/writing02.jpg?resize=834%2C540\" alt=\"leaving spaces with a pencil\" width=\"834\" height=\"540\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Popsicle sticks are also great to use.\u00a0 You can have students decorate their sticks with their names or some designs and keep it in their desk.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few homemade
