11 Fun Literacy Centers for Your 2nd Grade Classroom

Using literacy centers in your classroom is a great hands on way to help students build reading, writing, and word work skills every day. You may choose to run your centers while you are busy working with small guided reading groups or assessing individual learners. You'll want to teach your students how to use the centers before starting a rotation.

This grammar game is great for teaching the Parts of Speech. Students try to guess the mystery word on the card. There are a few clues given about the word (whether it is a noun, an adjective or a verb, how many letters it has, what it starts or ends with, etc.). Students play in groups of three. One student reads while the other students guess.
